This by far is my go to game for the year. I'm clearing out the rest of my year for this.

I loved the last game so much, it stirred up quite a whirl on the net, as people thought I actually worked for the game publisher and was out shilling their game left and right:) Can't a fanboy just be a fanboy??

And yes, I'm playing as Maya.

I am actually pre-loading the game on steam as I'm typing this(I know it isn't coming out for a few more days, but I saw that it was an option and I had to pre-load it just for kicks).

Maya seems like way more of a support character than Lilith, but her differences should make her a fresh experience.

I'll likely go with Axton on my solo playthrough since I used Roland on my initial playthrough of 1 and it was a good experience.

Another thing worth noting is if you have a save file for the original Borderlands you'll get special skins for the new game.  I don't know exactly how it will work, but the skins look pretty damn cool. Patricia Tannis the Siren looks like a very nice customization.

I have no idea who I'm going to play. I always thought Roland/Axton had the most useful ability but they're such bland characters. Why would I choose them when I could laugh maniacally as the world explodes upon the contact of my fiery fists. At the end of the day, I'll choose the character who has the most abilities that increase move speed because getting between locations has always been the most boring parts of these games even though I appreciate it's open world.

If you go to the Borderlands 2 website under the section for each character there is an option to view their skill trees.  It doesn't give too much information on how the characters will play, but it is a way to plot how you think you will progress with the character before you get into playing them.  That being said, I don't think I remember any of them getting any passive speed bonuses.

Yeah, I agree that Maya isn't as kick ass as Lilith. The one key ability that I loved before was disappearing in combat and that's gone. I always did feel it was a bit overpowering, but the sensation of sneaking around especially when you are close to death is just the ultimate thrill. I know I'm going to have to change up my play style just for this game.

And me too – First game ever I pre-ordered just so I can get it pre-loaded:)

BTW – If you did pre-order and got the special pre-order items, better read up on how the Golden Key works:

It's a powerful random loot drop. It's power level is based on your level, so if you open at level 1,  you are stuck with a level 1 weapon.

Been playing this when I can the last few days and it is everything the first game was and more.  I've got 2 golden keys, but I'm trying to hold off using them until I'm a little bit further through the game or at some point when I end up with a load of underpowered weapons.  One thing that I just started messing with last night that upgraded most of my arsenal is the slot machine in Moxxxie's.  Every time I got a gun out of there it was at my level and I occasionally got good spins which resulted in very good weapons or even erridium.

Another small thing I really love about Borderlands is how I found out that Scooter is voiced by Mikey Neumann from Gearbox and that he does such an amazing job at it.
