Vampy is a vampire who got kicked out of vampire society for being too small, which is already the most relatable villain origin story ever. Then a sun fairy named Solea decides he might just be destined for great things, and the two of them set off through sunlit villages, dark forests and caves. The big twist: sunlight burns, so you have Solea move the sun itself, swinging the shadows around until there's a safe path of darkness to sneak along. It's a genuinely fresh stealth-puzzle idea, and it's a joy to watch it click.
Then there's the choice that hangs over every villager: spare them, help them, or have them for lunch. A pacifist run and an evil run take you down different routes to multiple endings, and the world quietly reacts to who Vampy becomes. All of it comes wrapped in goofy, hand-drawn MS Paint-style art, a great soundtrack and lots of little hidden gags, and it's somehow cute even when it's being bitey. The difficulty sits in a sweet spot that's challenging without being frustrating.
It's a small game, though. One route runs roughly three to four hours, and seeing both is where the rest of the value lies. Rough edges do show: you can't go back into a finished level, so missed secrets and side quests stay missed, there are some bugs (stuck AI, overlapping music, save hiccups), the controls can feel a little clunky, and one final boss phase leans on luck more than skill. The solo developer has already been patching. At $8.99 with the launch discount (normally $9.99), with full controller support and Steam Deck Verified status, it's a sweet little afternoon treat with real heart.
