Next Reign: Kingdom starts with a single field and slowly snowballs into a bustling medieval realm. Gather resources, train workers, build industries, craft goods, automate production chains, then send formations of troops (five unit types, each with tiers) into tactical auto-battles. It's an incremental at heart, but instead of making one number bigger, it keeps unlocking new systems that feed into each other, all in cozy old-school pixel art.
That 'just one more upgrade' feeling hits hard, especially after your first prestige, when things really pick up speed. There's a lot here, too: over a dozen interlocking systems, 100+ prestige upgrades, and about 20 hours of progression. The team has been super responsive, even reaching out to people who hit bugs and fixing them within days. It also runs on Linux.
Patience required. The start is slow, the systems and combat aren't always well explained, and the UI text can be tiny. Launch week brought complaints about stingy storage caps, which the devs reworked in the first few days. A later mechanic called prosperity can turn into a frustrating grind, and if you don't love menus, this is basically a very pretty spreadsheet.
